Deepika Padukone Heer and Ranjha

It’s the season of new, never-tried-before co-star combos as directors try to experiment with different lead pairs in order to bring in some freshness on screen. And after Deepika Padukone-Farhan Akhtar, Deepika-Imran and Deepika-Abhishek, the audience will now see this gorgeous actress paired against the delectable Shahid Kapoor. News has it that both these actors will be seen together onscreen for the first time in Sabir Khan’s next. Sabir, who assisted in movies like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and directed the disastrous Kambakht Ishq, will be directing the two in Heer and Ranjha, a modern take on the classic love story.

As for the news stating Deepika’s discomfort in starring with someone shorter than her, Sabir has refuted these reports stating that height is never really an issue citing the perfectionist Aamir Khan as an example. Though he refused to tell anything about the story of the film, he did tell us as to why he had opted for these two particular actors. "We opted for Deepika because we needed a face that could look contemporary and classical. Among the current line-up of actresses, only she could measure up to my script's demands. As for Shahid, he's an intense actor. I'm positive this pair can project the pangs of passionate love."
